Top 4 Ways to Make Your Fitness Routine Stick

How did we get to the middle of February already? Some of us are still charging forward with our resolutions, but some of us may be starting to slip.

Unfortunately, there may be a lot of obstacles, especially this year. According to Psychology today, most resolutions fail by the end of this month.

But never fear! Our virtual fitness events, virtual running events, and fitness community will help you stay on track to make 2021 your best year ever!

Here are some tips and tricks to make sure your routines stick.

1.) Set a Clear Goal - You can’t just say you want to move more. You need to give yourself clear benchmarks to reach and make sure they are attainable for you. Your brain LOVES a victory, so you need to give it something to chase after. Events like our Rise and Revel Fitness for All 100 mile challenges help because they give you a clear goal to reach and a great medal and t-shirt to show off your accomplishment.

2.) Not Everything All at Once - While you have a big, awesome goal, you are going to need to break that goal down into manageable mini-goals. It is easy to get overwhelmed, but when you realize that you just need to put one foot in front of the other, you can do amazing things!  Our challenges offer different logging methods to make sure you can visualize where you are and see what needs to be done.

3.) No Comparing and Contrasting - Some people can finish a 5k Virtual run in an afternoon, and some people need a few days. Guess what? Either is OK! You need to celebrate your victories.

4.) Join a Community - It is so important to have accountability and a group of cheerleaders! Studies have shown that exercise is social contagious!

When you have a group, you will inspire each other to do better and reach new goals!  While it may be hard to join a class or an in-person running group, our Run Motivators and Rise and Revel fitness communities on Facebook are a great place to get the support and advice you need.

So while January is the month for resolutions, let’s make February the month of REVOLUTIONS. Let’s recharge, regroup, and take the steps we need to make sure we attain our goals!
